The ground control unit (GCS), is installed
in a s-250 or s-280 type shelter, which can be carried onboard and
pick-up truck or similarly sized vehicle. The shelter is
air-conditioned and is fully functional with a modest 2.5 KVA
generator. 24VDC back-up batteries provide up to 3 hours of
operation in case of a generator failure. Also included in the GCS
are the ground data-link components and a
UAV tracking system. The unit is currently operational and
is in use by the
Israeli Ministry of defense.
Uplink
The primary uplink channel broadcasts on L/S/C/X/Ku bands (in
accordance with customer's request) at 20 watts. Transmission is via
an omni directional or directional antenna, mounted on an automatic
tracking system. Data flow is at 9600 baud rate. The secondary
uplink channel broadcasts in UHF (Narrow band) at 25 watts, with an
omni directional antenna and 9600 baud data flow rate.
Downlink This channel broadcasts on
L/S/C/X/Ku bands (in accordance with customer's request). Video and
telemetry are synthesized and the link is capable of frequency
change as well as video encryption
(optional). Mission planning, execution and
debriefing
Flight program - with up to a 100 waypoints,
each point is configurable in position, altitude, velocity and task.
Program can be created, modified saved and uploaded in mid flight.
Payload interface - the system provides an
advanced control over a wide range of cameras, in which, first and
foremost, the Microview, in addition to other manufacture's cameras.
EMIT can also accommodate any particular request by client.
Payload control - includes rate-control
(via joystick) as well as continuous pointing to a specific target.
Camera footprint is presented on a digital map to assist in quick
and precise intelligence gathering. Mission
debriefing - video from
the mission is digitally recorded on cassettes. Flight data is also
recorded, with high resolution, in files within the mission
computer. Playback is immediate with slow/fast/step-by-step
capabilities.
